Luciana was born at home in Rome by her parents - Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi, an Italian army officer and her mother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was the one of Benito's lover's wives. Her siblings are unknown. Luciana went to the local high school and, after graduation in 1955, she studied Naval Engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan. She was the sole woman in the class. After two years of study, she began modeling. Shortly after that she got a chance to act in Three Coins in the Fountain during a trip to Rome visiting the daughter of her father's friend. Her first marriage was with Brett Halsey who is also an actor. Following their marriage in 1960 and the production of the film Return to the Peyton Palace. Luciana was granted custody following divorce. The couple had a child boy named Charles who was born in June 1961. Luciana was involved in a romantic relationship with Tony Athony from 1962 until 1970. He is an actor/producer who had the idea to write and produce The Spaghetti Western hybrid based on her character in the film as Green Slime.
