Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She is the author of more than twenty albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as folk or alternative rock. Yet, they are influenced by jazz hip hop punk as well as funk. She is widely considered to be a feminist icon. Grammy award winner Ani DiFranco has been referred to as the "mother" of the DIY movement. She was one of the first musicians to launch her own label 1990. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco and Dante Americo DiFranco, who been in contact while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian descent, and her mother was originally from Montreal. Ani diFranco wrote and sang the track 32 Flavors. The track was first released on her 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. The song was featured in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized after the news that she would be hosting 3 days of workshops at an old Louisiana slavery plantation. It was cancelled but a lot of people (including this report) were not able to sense any regret. DiFranco made a second apology two days after the first. While she's best known as Little Folksinger, her style includes a wide range of styles. The collaborators she has with her vary from Pete Seeger and Chuck D to Prince. She is from New Orleans. Ani diFranco as well as Kristen Ford are together. When she was 14, she had begun making her own songs. In her teenage years she performed songs at bars and cafes. DiFranco completed her studies at Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at the age of 16.
